Best Meta Quest 3 games to play in 2023

Dive into one of these VR worlds.

The Meta Quest 3 has finally been released three years after the launch of the Meta Quest 2. That may not seem like a long time in normal console terms, but in the VR world, it’s practically an eternity.

The new VR headset features much more graphical horsepower, higher resolution screens, and other quality of life improvements. But what about the games?

The Meta Quest 3 is backward compatible with all Quest 2 games, but it also allows for much bigger titles to be released on the Quest platform. Here are some of the best games to play on the Meta Quest 3 right now.

Tetris Effect: Connected

Tetris might not be one of the first games you think of when you’re looking for great VR games, but Tetris Effect: Connected achieves something a lot of us never thought to even ask for: It takes Tetris and VR and merges them into one wonderful and fresh experience.

Tetris Effect: Connected is one of the few VR games that I’ve been able to play for hours upon hours. It’s not tiring like other more intensive VR experiences, and the Meta Quest 3 is the perfect device to play the game on for that very reason.

The game also received a Quest 3 update, which improved the graphics with a new fidelity option for owners of the new headset.

Marvel’s Iron Man VR

Marvel’s Iron Man VR started life as a PlayStation VR exclusive. However, that changed in 2022 when the game was ported to the Meta Quest 2.

It became an instant hit as one of the better standalone Quest 2 titles, and it’s still one of the highest-rated games on the Meta Quest store. If you ever wanted to feel what it’s like to be Iron Man, then this is the game for you and there’s nothing else quite like it on the Quest.

Unfortunately, there’s no Quest 3-specific update for the game yet, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the best mainstream VR experiences available.

Beat Saber

Beat Saber was one of the first big VR games, almost like the Wii Sports or Guitar Hero of VR. It showed gamers, many of whom hadn’t purchased a VR headset yet, exactly what is so awesome about VR gaming. The game was such a monster hit that Meta bought Beat Games, the developer behind Beat Saber.

Beat Saber receives regular updates with new songs and artists being added all the time. You have the option to buy music packs from your favorite artists to spice up your game. The only thing that makes Beat Saber better is playing the game to some of your favorite songs.

There isn’t a Quest 3 update for Beat Saber, but the game benefits from the improved tracking of the headset and controllers. If the team provides us with a Quest 3 build, we’ll update the article accordingly.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus

Exclusive to the Meta Quest family of headsets, Assassin’s Creed Nexus is one of the biggest games to only appear on the Meta platform.

As a launch title for the Meta Quest 3, Assassin’s Creed Nexus is one of the first glimpses at what the new hardware can do. There’s a noticeable graphical improvement when comparing the game on the Quest 3 to the older Quest 2, making the new headset the clear winner when deciding which one to play the game on.

It also goes without saying that being dropped into the world of Assassin’s Creed in VR is an awesome experience. Putting on a Meta Quest 3 headset and opening Assassin’s Creed Nexus is the closest thing we have to feeling like you’re actually entering the animus, and that doesn’t get old.

Golf+

If you’re after a more relaxing time with your Meta Quest 3 headset, then Golf+ could be the game for you. It’s one of the highest-rated games on the Meta Quest store at a smidge under 5 stars with nearly 26,000 ratings. That actually makes it the best-reviewed game on this list, according to Meta Quest players.

Golf+ is the official VR game of the PGA Tour, meaning it’s the only VR golf game to include some of the world’s most iconic courses. The game is also jam-packed with features for both novice and advanced golfers.

If you want to get into the nitty-gritty to improve how you play, you can pour over your playstyle statistics and practice every part of your game. Otherwise, if you just want to play some rounds and have fun, the single-player and multiplayer modes should have you covered.
