Clover Retribution Magic tier list

Currently, Clover Retribution features 15 magic grimoires you can unlock, ranging from common healing abilities to the capability to warp space and time itself. Clover Retribution’s magic can comfortably fall into different tiers, ranging from the strongest and rarest abilities you can get your hands on to ones you’ll likely get within the first few minutes of playing. Below is a quick list of every magic available in Clover Retribution, sorted into their respective tiers.

World Tree MagicS

FlameA
WindB
LightningB

HealingC
SlimeD

You’ll notice a pattern with most of these magics, particularly the higher-tier ones. As you dive into legendary and mythic-grade magic, they’ll typically be much stronger than common-grade ones you find early on.

Tip:

As of July 5, 2024, the new mythic-grade Sand magic has been released, but it will take some time to test its abilities and determine its ranking.

You can unlock extremely powerful abilities, often at the cost of spending many hours spinning for a low chance at legendary or mythic-grade magic. Nonetheless, that level of dedication is what’ll make you the most powerful mage around. Let’s dive deeper into some of the best magic in the experience.

Typically, the best and most powerful magical abilities to unlock in Clover Retribution are legendary and mythic-grade magics such as World Tree, Time, and Blood magic, among others. Their rarity compensates for their sheer power, especially since you’ll likely need quite a few rare spins before you find one, let alone several, of the most powerful magic in the game.

Let’s talk about each tier more, alongside the pros and cons of each magic set.

S-tier magic in Clover Retribution

Everyone’s goal in Clover Retribution is to obtain the best magic possible that can help you eliminate any player or boss you encounter. Below are the best magics you can unlock and the ones you should go for while making your spins:

  • World Tree Magic
  • Blood Magic
  • Time Magic
  • Spatial Magic

You’ll notice all these are mythic-grade magic, which makes a lot of sense. Since these are the most powerful magic sets in Clover Retribution, their rarity reflects this, with you having a less than one percent chance of finding one with each spin. Your best bet is to go for as many rare spins as possible and hope for the best as you hunt down one of these grimoires.

To put these into perfective, all four of these magic sets have incredible abilities, ranging from automatic attack dodging to creating powerful area-of-effect shields that scale with your INT stat. Regardless of which you have, they’re useful in almost any situation.

A-tier magic in Clover Retribution

Every A-tier magic can hold its own, with some outclassing S-tier abilities in certain situations. Here are some other fantastic magics that are worth obtaining with your spins:

  • Void Magic
  • Water Magic
  • Flame Magic

While the most powerful mythic-grade magic will usually be stronger consistently, that doesn’t mean you can’t hold your own with these. However, like before, these are a mix of epic and legendary-grade magics, with no common or uncommon ones in sight. After all, rarer magic still often reflects power.

Similar to S-tier, these three magics are incredibly powerful in many situations and can quickly catch enemies off guard with their damage and utility, with their main downside being the precision and timing required to pull them off.

B-tier magic in Clover Retribution

Some of Clover Retribution’s magic is still quite powerful in most situations, with the ability to take others by surprise or quickly eliminate bosses in several niche situations. While B-tier magic may not necessarily have the overwhelming strength of the ones above, they can still manage to deal some serious damage if you use them right. Here are two B-tier magics that can hold their own in a good chunk of your fights:

  • Wind Magic
  • Lightning Magic

Much like A-tier magic, the effectiveness of wind and lightning largely depends on your precision, particularly with abilities like Lightning Strike, Gale White Bow, and Crescent Moon Sickle. In some cases, they can actually match the power of A-tier abilities, especially with some of lightning’s debuffs. However, pulling these off consistently is much more challenging, making them suitable for this mid-tier level.

C-tier magic in Clover Retribution

The C-tier magics in Clover Retribution have the potential to be incredibly powerful but have either specific drawbacks or unpredictable aspects that only make them helpful in niche situations. The potential is there, but it’s much harder to take advantage of this than for other magic. Below are the two spells that fall in this category:

  • Dice Magic
  • Healing Magic

Both of these magics are unique in their own way. Dice is well-known for its unpredictability, which can be quite strong if you get lucky rolls. However, if you run into a series of bad rolls, this magic won’t do as much for you as some of the more consistent magics available in higher tiers. Similarly, while healing is great for, well, healing, that’s about all it does for you. If you want more damage output, you’ll have to look elsewhere for that.

D-tier magic in Clover Retribution

Lastly, we have magic that can still help you in battle but isn’t particularly powerful in the late game. Generally speaking, you’ll want to swap these out with higher-tier magic as soon as possible, especially if you have some extra roll opportunities. Here are the final few Clover Retribution magical grimoires that comfortably fit in this last category:

  • Melody Magic
  • Slime Magic
  • Earth Magic

Interestingly, this is the one tier where the quality and rarity system don’t fully matter. Here, we have one common, uncommon, and rare magic in the list, each with its own strengths and drawbacks that, unfortunately, fall short of some of the other options. Nonetheless, if these are your only options, they’ll still help you throughout your Clover Retribution playthrough until you can get better magics.
