There will be five ‘big content updates’ in all
Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 DLC is confirmed and Inti Creates is announcing it in a pretty big way today.
Here are the two main things coming on August 25. From there, Inti Creates promises “five big content updates,” which will come “once a month over the next four months.” Additional content teases include new boss fights, more modes, and “more story content,” including “Epilogue ATEMS.” The planned end date at this time for free update support is December 2022.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 DLC #1 – A playable Kirin XX character
Kirin XX is a souped-up version of the main character from Azure Striker Gunvolt 3.
She can’t utilize passive image pulses, but she does have a greater “variety of abilities.” To unlock her you’ll need to clear the game and witness the true ending. An “XX Trigger” option will let you swap to her before starting a mission.
Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 DLC # 2 – D-nizer Mode
This mode, quite simply, lets you play as Gunvolt the entire time.
Here’s the rundown from Inti Creates: “D-nizer Mode tasks you with playing as a special version of GV to see how far you can make it in a highly challenging survival mode. In this mode, GV plays similarly to playing the main story with the Passive Image Pulse ‘Primal Dragon’ GUNVOLT equipped. It’s strongly recommended that you practice by using this Image Pulse in each stage before tackling D-nizer Mode.”
The full roadmap
- August 25, 2022 — New playable character “Kirin XX,” new mode “D-nizer Mode,” and more
- Late September 2022 — New boss, new mode “Trial Mode,” and more
- Late October 2022 — New boss and more
- Late November 2022 — New boss and more

Oh and there’s one more thing! Inti Creates is bringing back the “grab the DLC quick to get it for free” program: “In addition to updating the game with new free content, a new DLC pack will release around the same time with a two-week free download campaign! Download in the first two weeks to keep the DLC free.”
