Ubisoft is turning up the AC for this Forward
Ubisoft is set to discuss what’s on the horizon this weekend, during its Ubisoft Forward stream. And several reports say that a healthy amount of Assassin’s Creed will be there.
Bloomberg reports today, confirming other reports, that Ubisoft is set to announce several new Assassin’s Creed games this coming Saturday.
According to Bloomberg’s sources, Ubisoft plans to show off a mobile title and two major games. The first is code-named Red and set in Japan, being developed by Ubisoft’s Quebec City office.
The second is code-named Neo or Hexe, according to Bloomberg, and is set during the later Holy Roman Empire, specifically revolving around the witch trials. This is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal.
Both of these are reportedly part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a platform for the series that will contain multiple settings that has been previously reported on. Neither game is expected to release until 2024 at the earliest.
The future of Assassin’s Creed
Ubisoft has already confirmed it plans to showcase Assassin’s Creed Mirage as well. Though it hasn’t revealed further official details about that game, it has been the subject of leaks and reports as well.
Suffice it to say, we’ll likely be seeing a lot of Assassin’s Creed this weekend. And while it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, I’m actually pretty interested in all of this.
Assassin’s Creed taking a platform approach could be interesting. I enjoy the more recent games in the series but never got around to finishing Valhalla due to how huge it was. Focused experiences with a bunch of different time periods could be intriguing.
Either way, it won’t be long until we know for sure. Ubisoft is airing its Forward stream this Saturday, at 12:00 p.m. PT / 3:00 p.m. ET. You can watch it on Ubisoft’s Twitch channel here.
