‘We don’t want to rush anything out,’ says Respawn

In an effort to not “rush anything out,” Respawn Entertainment is delaying the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends into 2021. At the same time, they’re feeling confident about the Steam release – it’s set for November 4, 2020. If you’re migrating from Origin, everything you’ve unlocked will “carry over.”

In a blog post, game director Chad Grenier said the team working on Apex‘s Switch port needs more time to “do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve.”

He also reiterated that Apex Legends on Switch will have cross-platform multiplayer and, crucially, it will be up to date on the seasonal schedule and have “full feature parity with the other versions.”

In terms of a wider cross-platform progression system, the developers are “passionate” about finding a solution and they’re “looking at our options available,” Grenier commented on Reddit. “Much harder post-launch since users may have multiple accounts to merge or use,” he explained. “Easier with Steam because it’s at launch. We’ll give an update when we have something to talk about.”

As for the Steam edition, it’s out the same day as Season 7. Don’t forget about that Headcrab charm.
