The location, dates, and more details for the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Split 2 Playoffs have been announced. The next event takes place in Germany from August 29, 2024, to September 1, 2024, and will be the last chance for teams to earn a place in the Championships.
Every team that qualifies for the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs will fly to Europe to compete for a cut of this year’s $1 million prize pool. The event will take place over the course of an entire weekend at the SAP Arena, which is just on the outskirts of Mannheim and extremely close to the city’s airport. This convenience will definitely appeal to fans, making the return to a long-requested location feel even better.
ALGS finally returns to Europe with the Split 2 Playoffs 2024
Tickets for the ALGS SPlit 2 Playoffs aren’t on sale just yet. If you want to buy some and secure your place at this pivotal event, then keep an eye on the official ALGS Twitter account for details as soon as they’re live.
The format for ALGS remains unchanged with the Split 2 Playoffs. Each team will battle it out in the Group Stages and work their way through eliminations until just 20 are left in the Finals. On the last day, these teams will compete to first reach 50 points, then to win a match so they can take home the biggest chunk of the prize pool. This format always works incredibly well for both players and the crowd, creating an air of excitement that sees fans begging for the top team to lose just so we all get to watch one more round and eke things out a little longer.
The SAP Arena is one of the most high-tech entertainment venues in Germany, which should bode well for a tech-heavy event like ALGS. With 40 teams competing, each consisting of three players, there’s a big demand for as much support as possible. While the cybersecurity side of things is EA and Respawn Entertainment’s responsibility, this venue’s facilities might make it more possible to prevent hacks like we saw in Apex Legends esports earlier in 2024.
The ALGS Split 2 Playoffs will actually be the venue’s first esports event. Having attended every event for 2023’s series, I know exactly how popular ALGS is and how huge the crowds can be, especially on the final day. Once every fan has descended, the SAP Arena won’t know what’s hit it.
