Casual Fridays fighter Aoko Aozaki headed to Melty Blood: Type Lumina

There is perhaps no greater fashion-forward gaming genre than Japanese fighting games. Truly, titles such as Guilty Gear, The King of Fighters, BlazBlue, and DNF Duel have rosters stacked with fighters who also happen to be paragons of sartorial integrity, who fully embrace the mantra that you only truly kick-ass if you look fabulous while doing so.

Aoko Aozaki, of Melty Blood: Type Lumina, follows no such mantra…

While so many fighting game characters see fit to bedeck themselves in fantastic fashions, traditional warrior ware or terrifying body armor getups, Aoko simply rocks the fuck out of bed, throws on yesterday’s tee and some slacks, and hits the ring. Of course, nobody says shit, as Ms. Aozaki is one of the world’s five remaining magicians, and as such is capable of incredibly destructive power — earning her the nickname of “Magic Gunner”. You can see our laundry basket babe kicking ass in a new video below, where she squares off against Shiki Tohno in chaotic one-on-one warfare.

Aoko will be joining the gaggle of gals that make up the Melty Blood: Type Lumina roster on January 13, when she will be made available to download — free of charge — to all players. This same date will also see the arrival of the previously revealed character Dead Apostle Noel, who is looking to cause untold carnage with her battery of magical javelins. So whether you like your characters Goth Lolita or Casual Fridays, all Type Lumina players will have not one, but two new fighters with which to step out of the wardrobe. Super.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina is available right now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
