All status conditions in Stalker 2 and how to cure them

Don't bleed out

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl isn’t a mere FPS by any means, and the different status conditions make it important for you to pay attention to the nitty-gritty of daily survival.

In The Zone, it’s not only the enemy factions and mutants trying to kill you. Even simple things like an encumbered status condition can lead to your untimely death and make you lose in-game progression. However, understanding the details about the conditions and how they work will help you to minimize their effect and also cure them.

All status conditions and their solutions in Stalker 2

So far, I have come across five different status conditions (hopefully, there aren’t anymore). All of them can be dangerous in their ways, and you should look to cure the statuses as quickly as possible.

Status ConditionCausesCures
AlcoholBy drinking alcoholic items like VodkaBleeding is best cured by the use of bandages (long press the Q button). If not cured, bleeding will keep chipping away at your health (even if you have healed fully).
BleedingBullet wounds, bites by mutantsBleeding is best cured by the use of bandages (long press the Q button). If not cured, bleeding will keep chipping away your health (even if you have healed fully).
EncumberedWhen the item weight in your inventory is higher than the full capacitySimply drop the items that you won’t need/too damaged. You can also sell some of the items to an NPC to lighten your inventory weight and remove the status.
HungerWhen you haven’t eaten for a long timeEat food, which is the best way to reduce your hunger. Finding sausages and bread is pretty easy (they’re often found on dead enemies), and you can consume them to solve the problem (they also restore health). Water and alcohol will also help you to mitigate the problem.
RadiationWhen you come in contact with a place that is infected by the radioactive wasteAlcohol immediately brings down the level of radiation damage you could be taking. Anti-Radiation medications are another helpful way of solving the issue.

Ultimately, Bleeding is the most dangerous form of status condition that can kill you quickly. Hence, always keep bandages in your inventory, and try not to use them to simply restore lost health. A medkit will be a better choice if you’re only looking to restore your health.

Encumbered isn’t usually dangerous, but they can become fatal during a fight. You’ll move slower, dodge slower, and find it extremely difficult to avoid the enemy. Always make sure to keep your inventory weight in check, and if required, drop whatever items you don’t need (and what won’t fetch too many coupons).
