Good luck!
The Resident Evil 4 remake brings back the classic “grade letter/tier” ranking system, and it goes the way up to 11 S+. Here’s what you’ll need to do to actually get that gold star and make your favorite role model proud.
All Resident Evil 4 remake S rank requirements
Each difficulty setting (from assisted through professional) has its own set of campaign clear time requirements, which in turn dictate your ranking. We don’t recommend trying for an S or S+ ranking on the first run, as you’ll need to learn the basic structure of the campaign; and know when to fight and when to run (and how to fight).
Here are all of the S rank requirement clear times:
- Assisted mode: 4:00 (under four hours)
- Standard mode: 5:00:00 (under five hours)
- Hardcore mode: 5:30:00 (under five hours, 30 minutes)
- Professional mode: 5:30:00 (under five hours, 30 minutes)
All Resident Evil 4 remake S+ rank requirements
The requirements for an S+ rank are roughly, the same as S, but with a major caveat: you cannot use a New Game+ (NG+) file with tons of weapons/items ready to go, it has to be a fresh save. Additionally, professional mode has an extra task tacked-on of a 15 save limit (read: 15 acts of using a typewriter to manually save). Note that you can see how many saves you’ve triggered on the actual save/load menu, and professional mode does not have auto-save capabilities.
Here are all of the S+ rank requirement clear times:
- Assisted mode: 4:00 (under four hours) – using a fresh save file (no New Game+/NG+ runs)
- Standard mode 5:00:00 (under five hours) – using a fresh save file (no New Game+/NG+ runs)
- Hardcore mode: 5:30:00 (under five hours, 30 minutes) – using a fresh save file (no New Game+/NG+ runs)
- Professional mode: 5:30:00 (under five hours, 30 minutes) – using a fresh save file (no New Game+/NG+ runs)Â and a limit of 15 saves
All Resident Evil 4 remake S/S+ rank rewards
- Deer Antlers: Clear the game on standard with an S+ rank
- Chicken Head: Clear the game on hardcore with an S+ rank
- Cat Ears: Clear the game on professional mode with an S+ rank
Is it worth going for S-ranks in the Resident Evil 4 remake?
After the first run, absolutely!
While the rewards may not be everything you hoped for, getting an S rank in Resident Evil 4 after you know the game’s ins and outs is totally doable. It’s also one of the easiest ways to get some replay value out of the game, and create a milestone to reach on your second playthrough.
Even if you’re just trying for a regular S rank in the exact difficulty setting you just played (from standard onward), that’s still going to unlock something.
