There are 21 collectible Alex Casey lunchboxes to find in Alan Wake 2, and we have all the locations. Get ready, folks, because this one will likely take you late into the game to complete. It’s worth it, though.
What do lunchboxes do in Alan Wake 2?
Lunchboxes contain pieces of a shredded manuscript. The amount varies from box to box, with some offering one piece while others can contain up to nine. You can use the manuscript fragments to upgrade Saga Anderson’s weapons in her Mind Place. The boxes are located in the three major areas of Saga’s campaign, though some are blocked off by story progress. Read the descriptions below to learn more.
Lunchboxes are always near colorful, knitted items hanging from trees or sitting on the ground. Following them always leads to a lunchbox, so keep an eye out.
Cauldron Lake lunchbox locations
There are eight lunchboxes in the Cauldron Lake area, but there are some that require story progression to acquire. Check out the map below and continue for the finer details:
Cauldron Lake 1
The first lunchbox you find in the game will likely be this one since it’s hard to resist following your curiosity and exploring the side path. You can find the lunchbox next to the Mortar Falls sign.

Take the path going west of the Witch’s Hut.

Climb the ledge behind the FBC Station to find the next lunchbox.

By a campsite to the south, you’ll find the lunchbox to the left of the tent.

Cauldron Lake 5
After the flooding goes down, you’re able to access the area around the Witchfinder’s Station. Go northeast from the station while hugging the northern edge of the map.

Cauldron Lake 6
You can find this lunchbox by following the river to the north of the Witch’s Hut. If it’s blocked, progress the story until the flood recedes. You’ll need to walk over the log stretched across the river. Don’t worry, it’s not blocking your path.

Go up the path leading north from the General Store. The lunchbox is against the blockage.

Once you get the bolt cutters in the chapter Return 5: Old Gods, revisit Cauldron Lake and open the gate leading to the Rental Cabins. Inside the cabin to the right is the lunchbox on a cabinet. This lunchbox may be one worth getting after you complete the Watery area where you acquire the bolt cutters.

Watery lunchbox locations
There are six lunchboxes to discover in Watery. Thankfully, none of them are blocked by floods. What a treat, eh? Check out the map below for all the locations:

You’ll find the lunchbox at the very northern tip of the map, right next to the Radio Tower and next to a large boulder.

Seek out the campsite overlooking the Ranger Cabin. The lunchbox is left of the tent.

Take a sharp right after entering the Lighthouse Trailer Park and look for the lunchbox next to the trees near the swing set.

This lunchbox is hiding between one of the boats and a shed north of the Kalevala Knights Workshop.

This lunchbox is easy to miss. You can find it hiding in a yellow structure next to the Coffee World ticket stand.

You can find the final Watery lunchbox just north of the Break Room between the Watery Lighthouse and the road leading downtown.

Bright Falls lunchbox locations
Bright Falls has seven lunchboxes to discover, the majority of which are out in the Bunker Woods area. As before, there are lunchboxes you can’t claim until you progress far enough in Saga’s story. Check out the map for all the locations:
Bright Falls 1
The first lunchbox you may have stumbled across in Bright Falls is located in the park. Head inside and find it by the tree next to the covered benches.

This lunchbox is a bit tricky to track down. You’ll find it southwest of the northern Break Room to the west of the river. Head off the trail going south and follow the knitted signs and objects to find the lunchbox.

You can find the next lunchbox in the Manor wing of the Valhalla Nursing Home. Turn right and enter the Admin Office after walking inside. Look left to see the lunchbox sitting on the dresser.

You should locate this lunchbox after finishing the Nursing Home part of the chapter. Head out through the exit. Look for the knitted objects on the right-hand side of the path that goes southwest. Follow them to find the lunchbox.

You’ll find the next lunchbox in the woods southeast of Valhalla Nursing Home.

After progressing far enough in the Return 5: Old Gods chapter, the floods recede from the coast. When that happens, you can find this lunchbox near the beach, due east from the last lunchbox.

The next lunchbox is found outside Billie’s Boat Yard. You can reach it after the flooding is gone.
