The final content drop for Grounded has arrived in update 1.4, aka the ‘Fully Yoked Update’, bringing with it many changes. One such addition is the New Game Plus mode, and here are all its features in Grounded.
Grounded New Game Plus mode isn’t one for those who are freshly shrunk. The mode is aimed toward experienced players who have completed the game’s story, beaten many of its bosses, and are hungry for more. New Game Plus features changes that shake up the Grounded formula, adding more content and remixing the backyard.
How to unlock New Game Plus in Grounded
You can only unlock the New Game Plus mode in Grounded after completing some steps. As mentioned, you’ll need to be pretty far ahead in your world before you can venture into the new one.
Here is what you need to do to access New Game Plus:
- Defeat the Broodmother, Wasp Queen, and Mantis world bosses
- Complete the JavaMatic section at the end of the story
- Find the “secret cave”
There’s a secret cave? Yes, to access New Game Plus in Grounded you need to complete the last story challenge and beat those bosses to unlock a door at the end of a hidden cave. Once you finish those tasks, go to the cave entrance. It’s located in the northernmost section of the Flower Bed that surrounds the Koi Pond.
The entrance is here, between two stone blocks in the wall that separates the Flower Bed and the Upper Grasslands:
The door opens with a button that activates once the bosses are dead and the JavaMatic fight is finished.
Grounded: All New Game Plus features and more
New Game Plus allows you to continue your adventures in Grounded but with some significant changes. Developer Obsidian Entertainment calls it a ‘Remixed’ backyard, in which the various insects and arachnids are powered up with Raw Science that increases their strength and speed. The bugs are also charged with “unique properties that make them extra challenging.”
Here are other features coming with the New Game Plus mode in Grounded:

- On death, bugs infused with Raw Science will drop new Trinkets with random properties
- BURG.L Chips award in Trinkets with special properties
- Yoking Station – Level 10
