All Booster Tower hidden treasure chests in Super Mario RPG

I'll never get tired of that music.

Booster Tower is one of the most iconic areas of Super Mario RPG, and naturally it’s filled with hidden secrets to uncover.

There are four hidden treasure chests in Booster Tower, in addition to the other optional goodies you can find here. Whether it’s a new weapon for your newly recruited Bowser or a switch revealing a new area back in the Booster Pass, there’s a ton up for grabs here. Let’s go over how to grab all those hidden treasure chests.

#1: Up the first staircase

Past the reception desk at the front of Booster Tower, you’ll enter a room with a series of steps to jump up. Ignore the Snifitys climbing down and jump at the top of the staircase to reveal a Frog Coin.

#2: Past the Thwomp

A bit later in your climb up the tower, you’ll have a Thwomp on a seesaw bounce you into a vertical room. Before you start climbing up, run over to the corner of the room on the left. Jump up to reveal a Frog Coin.

#3: In the save room before the boss

Booster Tower is longer than the average Super Mario RPG dungeon, so you’ll see a couple save points as you make your climb. The second one is actually right before the boss of the area, but you have not one, but two hidden treasure chests to reveal here.

The first simply lurks in the corner of the room on the bottom right. You’ll simply find a Mushroom here.

#4: On top of the other treasure chest

The second hidden chest is honestly pretty goofy. The back of the room has a series of platforms leading up to a non-hidden chest, but you’ll notice that last step is raised a bit higher than it needs to be. This is because you can actually jump from the platform to the top side of the chest. Jump up from here to reveal another chest, this time containing the Goodie Bag item.

What does the Goodie Bag do in Super Mario RPG?

The Goodie Bag is a weird item. You can use it indefinitely, and it nets you an additional coin in battle. That’s… not really worth it, so fans of the SNES version of the title recommend selling it instead. It goes for 555 Coins in the remake, but that said, it’s easy to earn all the coins you need by naturally playing. So I personally enjoyed keeping it strictly as a vanity item, but ultimately, what you do with the Goodie Bag is up to you!
