He might not have invented the voice, but D.C. Douglas’s Albert Wesker was likely the most memorable part of Resident Evil 5. He has provided the David Bowie-esque voice of the recurring antagonist since Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, most recently in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. But since Wesker was killed off in Resident Evil 5, it’s a mystery whether Douglas will ever get to voice him in any future Resident Evil games if the canon story moves forward.
Perhaps that’s part of the reason why Douglas agreed to answer a slew of questions in an “ultimate, complete and final interview” posted on YouTube. That’s pretty awesome, considering many voice actors can get huge egos after a few roles.
Douglas has to duck out of several questions due to lawyers and their mystical law powers, but he still manages to talk about what it’s like to act, his idea for a Wesker spin-off, and his discovery of the yaoi (man-on-man love) community around Wesker and series protagonist Chris Redfield. It’s always fun to see how people handle their characters being put in those situations by crazy fans.
