It’s hard to believe it’s been more than 13 years since Alan Wake came and went like a dark, surreal hurricane, leaving before its story wrapped up. To the relief of fans, Alan Wake 2 is nearly here and close enough to release times that we can now justify a countdown clock.

Launch and post-release details

Alan Wake 2 is officially out starting on October 26, but there are some details to know ahead of its launch. The game will be released on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store as a digital-only title. Remedy doesn’t plan on selling a physical copy of the game.

Post-launch support

Alan Wake 2 will receive both free and paid DLC after launch. Game Director Sam Lake confirmed that the free DLC will be “pretty significant” but spared further insight. Let’s hope the post-launch content adds to the mystery and doesn’t act as some “true final ending.” We’ve waited more than a decade to figure out what the hell is going on at Bright Falls, Washington. Let’s not tease fate.

PC system requirements

Alan Wake 2 is a gorgeous game, but those visuals don’t come cheap. Its high requirements have been a point of contention among PC owners, some of whom claim are too demanding.
