Alan’s final chapter in The Dark Place is arguably the shortest in the whole game. Our walkthrough and guide for Alan Wake 2 – Initiation: Gone mostly exists for the sake of completion, but it’ll still be good to follow if you’ve forgotten how to walk forward in the game.
Initiation 9: Gone walkthrough for Alan Wake 2
There is one final Echo to collect in the chapter, and you get it at the beginning.
Keep in mind that this chapter marks the point of no return. If you still haven’t collected everything in The Dark Place, this is your last chance to do it. Here are some links to follow, just in case:
Leave the theater and return to the plaza
Initiation 9: Gone begins right after Initiation 8 ends. Alan finds himself in the Projection Booth in Poet’s Cinema. Leave via the door (hold the W key on your keyboard or the left analog stick away from you to walk) and you’ll find yourself back in the area at the top of the steps in the Theater Hall scene.
The Zane film, Yötön Yö, starts playing on the screen. It’s a short, live-action movie starring Sam Lake in the leading role. The movie takes roughly 15 minutes to fully experience. You can stand in the hall and watch it to its conclusion or take off. Either way, all eight parts of the film will appear in the Writing Room in case you want to watch it (or watch it again).
Return to the lobby and line up the Echo to get ‘Draft Three – Trapped’. Once it’s done, open up the Plot Board and remove the New York’s Finest element (if you still have the element on the board). This opens the front door of the theater, allowing you to leave.
Go back to Parliament Tower (once more with feeling)
Exit the theater and make your way north on Grant St. toward the plaza. The phone near the plaza is ringing once more, so go pick it up for a conversation with a surprising caller. Alan gets new instructions: Put Alice’s photos in the shoebox at her statue in the center of the plaza. Once you place the pictures in the box, the door to Parliament Tower will open.
You know what to do: Head inside the tower and go up the elevator. Back in the apartment, a weird growl is heard from the writing room. The door for it is locked, forcing you to explore the apartment. Boxes are strewn about, and the furniture is gone. It looks like someone is cleaning house. In the living room area, a projector is displaying a video of Alice’s documentary. Hold the activation button to start it. Once it’s finished, the chapter will end — as will Initiation in kind.
With that done, Alan’s journey through the Initiation chapters is over. Hopefully, you have everything squared away. Now begins the endgame of Alan Wake 2. Best of luck!
