Game “journalists” believe themselves to be decadent nobles from prestigious times, supping in the banquet halls of the mighty while impoverished simpletons bow and scrape at their mercy. The folk behind Age of Empires Online know exactly how filth like me see ourselves, and drew this image.

That’s me in the bottom right, joined by fellow arrogant luminaries Jeff Gerstmann, Larry Hryb, Tina Palacios, Chris Kohler, Stephen Totilo, Brian Crecente, Ludwig Kietzmann and Ben Kuchera.

We all think we’re so brilliant, when we’re really just jumped up pricks with no social skills who will share an advert for a videogame just because someone drew us on it. That was self-deprecating humor, and not an actual sentiment of bitterness, for those that didn’t catch it.

Age of Empires Online hit Steam this week. It’s currently available as an “all-in-wonder bundle” for $16.99, a deal that knocks $33 off the usual asking price. So that’s nice!
