Activision responds to wave of permanent bans in MW3 and Warzone

Activision puts its foot down.

Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone players have reported a massive uptick in “unfair bans”, but Activision dispelled those rumors with authority.

In response to community members complaining about a wave of “false bans,” an Activision representative reportedly told WZStatsGG: “If you see a permanent ban, those are given with the most serious considerations and after significant research. It doesn’t matter what excuses people give. There are no false permanent bans.” So for players, who may have thought they were banned without reason, Activision pushed back against that notion and defended every ban that is dealt.

Some community members allegedly used an external unlock tool to get cosmetic items for free that they otherwise had to pay for. CharlieIntel confirmed, “Using unlock tools in Call of Duty is a bannable offense, and you can get permanently banned for using it. Not sure why some of the people claiming they got banned for using it are acting surprised.” It’s unclear if all of the recent bans stemmed from unlock tools,

This isn’t the first time Activision has defended its anti-cheat system. At the end of February, Warzone players feared that RICOCHET stopped working. Activision responded to concerns by clarifying that the cheating service was never offline and actually banned over 6,000 accounts for cheating between February 16-20. The war against cheating is a long and arduous one, but it’s clear that the devs have a clear vision and mission when it comes to dealing with hackers.
