Ace Attorney 5 announced for 3DS, stars Phoenix Wright

The latest issue of Famitsu has confirmed that Ace Attorney 5 is in development for the 3DS, and like the headline says, Phoenix Wright is back in the spotlight. After the recent Ace Attorney movie (also starring Phoenix) managed to find both commercial and critical success, it’s no surprise that Capcom is returning to the series’ original lead. Nothing against Apollo or Edgeworth, but now that Phoenix is a star of stage, screen, manga, and videogames, it only makes sense for Capcom to capitalize on his new-found fame. Phoenix Wright — the new king of all media.

From reports coming in, the game will feature detailed polygon based character models as well as traditional hand drawn characters. As far as storyline goes, we know that Phoenix will be joined by a new sidekick — a young woman who looks like a cross between detective Ema Skye and Phoenix’s daughter Trucy. We’re also hearing that Winston Payne, the “Glass Joe” of the Ace Attorney series, will make an appearance in the court room at some point, though conflicting reports state that this is actually Winton’s better looking younger brother.

If you don’t follow the Ace Attorney series, then this all must sound like so much inane babble. As for you diehard Phoenix Wright fans out there, please feel free to freak the f*ck out, and stay tuned for more Ace Attorney 5 news as we get it.
