A ‘festival-like’ culmination of the series

Director Shigeo Komori has let slip to Famitsu that a new Etrian Odyssey game is in development for the Nintendo 3DS.

Komori confirmed the development of the new title during an interview commemorating the release of Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 in Japan. He called the new project a “festival-like” culmination of the series.

Komori goes on to say that this will be the last title in the series that uses the bottom screen of the Nintendo 3DS to draw the map. While it isn’t totally clear what that means for the series, it’s my hope that it means future installments will be headed to the Switch.

Until a more formal announcement is made, Komori hopes all will enjoy Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 which launched on 3DS in Japan on August 31.
