July 12 is the rumored date
Here’s a high-grade rumor that isn’t rooted in a retailer leak or bulletproof sources. Instead, it’s plausible entirely because of how logical it is. This industry is cyclical more often than not.
GameReactor is reporting that Ubisoft will reveal Far Cry 6 at its Ubisoft Forward stream on July 12. Not much is specified other than it doesn’t take place in North America. (Far Cry isn’t routinely set in North America anyway; only Far Cry 5 and spin-off New Dawn take place there.) Otherwise, Game Reactor says this new Far Cry is due to launch before the end of Ubisoft’s fiscal year, which runs through March 2021.
It’s not shaky because, yeah, it’s probably time for Ubisoft to gear up for another Far Cry. It rivals Assassin’s Creed in terms of sales. Far Cry is one of Ubisoft’s biggest money-makers, and it has been a few years since we’ve had a proper new Far Cry. You don’t need to have passed Differential Equations and Linear Algebra to recognize how this formula works out.
