Despite Nintendo panicking about the 3DS adoption rate and fears of third party abandonment, one company can claim to be doing quite well on the faltering handheld. Namco Bandai has enjoyed considerable success on the 3DS, with solid sales and pleasant profit.
The publisher revealed that overall revenue has risen 108% and that net profit has reached ¥3.25 billion. 3DS was a big part of those accomplishments, with One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP selling 170,000 units, Tales of the Abyss selling 150,000 units and Ridge Racer 3D shifting 90,000 units.
Of course, there’s a considerable lack of competition on the system right now, but these numbers are still pretty decent. One can assume that Namco will be supporting Nintendo’s handheld for quite some time, and we can all look forward to the insane amounts of DLC!
