In last week‘s debate we made progress on our journey of choosing all the contenders for the massive RPG game debate tournament that’s drawing near. Unlike two weeks ago, the last week’s decision was almost unanimous, showing that the winner will be a force to be reckoned with in the RPG tournament. Here are the results:

  • Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn (36 votes) — Winner!
  • Baldur’s Gate (5 votes)
  • Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (4 votes)

Also, for readers who desperately wish to see the showdown between Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn versus Planescape: Torment, just wait until the tournament begins and your hopes will come true! To quote a debate comment from Dtoider SquareBare on the epic showdown that is approaching:

… AND LO’ UNTO DESTRUCTIOD DID THE MIGHTY NERD ARMIES DESCEND TO DO BATTLE, AND FORTH FROM EACH OF THEIR LINES DID SURGE THE VOLLEYS OF COMMENTS UNTO WHICH WAS WRITTEN ON THE FORUM FIELDS LIKE FLAMING ARROWS. BUT LO’ THERE STOOD AMONG THEM AMIDST THE TORRENT OF BATTLE, A SINGLE PROPHET WHO SPOKE UNTO THEM… “Actually both games are pretty awesome”

As we continue to wrap up the lengthy RPG tournament qualifiers competition, we must choose a game from yet another older RPG series. The Lunar series includes many memorable characters, songs, and animated cutscenes, but out of the entire series, you must choose just one to represent its series in the tournament.

What Lunar game is the best, and why? What sets it apart from every other game in its series? Sell me on the idea! Get me stoked to see it compete in the tournament! Give it some serious thought, share your reasoning with all of us, and then check back next week to see how your game did!

Bonus Question: Which game in the series is your least favorite? Why?

Since I didn’t find as many pictures of this famous animated opening cutscene from the series, I went ahead and screenshotted a few moderately hi-res full screen images for your enjoyment. You can check them out in the image gallery below.
