Can’t wait for the next chapter in the Red Faction franchise? March too far out for you? THQ has interesting plans — releasing a “Red Faction Arcade” game on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network prior to the release of Red Faction: Armageddon.
This says THQ Vice President of Core Games (I still can’t believe this is a thing!) Danny Bilson, who in an interview with CVG, says the title will ship three to four months before the release of Armageddon.
“What’s interesting is that we will sell it to the fans, it will have content you can download that is TV show-related, it will build up the new game and also we can use it to drive pre-orders, too; we can give codes and aspects of it, we can give the whole thing away,” he explains.
The release is part of a larger strategy moving forward, with Bilson calling these titles “multi-faceted mini-games.” This means it won’t just be limited to Red Faction; Volition’s other title, the next Saint’s Row, will get the same treatment.
“And in December we’ll announce the Saint’s Row situation,” he says, “which is the biggest trans-media play anyone has ever done.”
