I have made no secret of the fact that I’m kind ofaddicted to Battlefield: Bad Company 2‘s online multiplayer. I’ve owned the game for about a month, and I’ve already spent more than 45 hours playing it online without even touching the single-player campaign. That’s enough to place me at Rank 25; by this point, I’ve fully ranked up each of the five classes and have unlocked all the weapons and kit specializations that currently exist in the game.
But if I want to reach the highest rank possible, 50, I’ll have to put in more than six times as many hours as I have played so far. According to some number-crunching done by Darius Kazemi, the president of videogame consulting firm Orbus Gameworks, Bad Company 2 players will need to play for about 282 hours (i.e., 11 days and 18 hours) if they want to ding 50. The experience points required to raise your rank increase exponentially, and the numbers really start to skyrocket around level 25. As Kazemi explained to Joystiq, “From rank 1-25 it takes about 2 hours to climb to a new rank. From rank 25-50 it takes about 10 hours to level up.”
Head on over to Joystiq for more details and sobering statistics.
