It’s happening, folks: Destiny 2‘s Dawning 2024 event is coming at us fast, and it’s absolutely loaded with new guns, goodies, and cosmetics for us to chase after. Down below, we’ve assembled a comprehensive set of information about The Dawning 2024, such as the start and end dates.

In the broadest of strokes, The Dawning 2024 will be a more-or-less standard continuation of Destiny 2‘s annual winter-season event. Players can expect themed sets of fancy new armor Ornaments, new shaders, seasonally appropriate guns, and loads more. It’s a veritable bonanza of Christmas-ish goodness, except it’s in the far, far future, and all the holidays we know and love meshed into the ultimate celebration of winter. Here’s the jig!

Destiny 2: The Dawning 2024 Start and End Dates

Destiny 2‘s 2024 edition of The Dawning is kicking off on December 10, and it will stay live until December 31. Three weeks’ worth of snowballs, ice, and an appropriately cool vibe across the board. The exact start and end times correlate with Destiny 2‘s usual weekly reset times:

• 9 AM PT
• 12 PM ET
• 5 PM GMT
• 4 AM AEST (December 11)

In total, then, we’ll have precisely three weeks’ worth of time to stock up on fancy new Dawning gear, re-earn beloved classics from the previous years (with new Perks, of course!), and give out as many gifts to as many NPCs/Vendors as humanly possible. The Dawning 2024 Weapons, Armor, and Rewards

Each of Destiny 2‘s seasonal events comes with its own dedicated questline that teaches you the mechanics of the event and gives you loads of goodies along the way. The Dawning is no different, and you can read up on 2023’s Dawning questline if you’d like some heads-up on what to expect out of it.

Of the entirely new gear, you can expect to farm for the fancy Mistral Lift linear fusion rifle, a burst-firing Heavy gun. Its Origin Trait drops a Dawning Gift every so often, allowing you to get even more loot just by using the new gun. Mistral Lift will, naturally, drop alongside Dawning-themed weapons from the previous years, such as the ever-popular Glacioclasm fusion rifle.

While all of Dawning 2024’s weapons will drop from gifts (and via the standard cookie-baking mini-game), the same cannot be said for the event’s fancier cosmetic rewards.

For those who’ve got Silver to spend, Bungie has confirmed that this year’s Dawning-themed armor ornaments are titled “Astral Stasis Drake”. Magical dragon o’clock, then. It’s not a bad setup, granted, and should make for a perfect choice if you like your Guardians dressed in high fantasy garb.

One final thing to keep in mind is that you should be prepared for a bug here and there. I bemoaned the fact that Bungie failed to fix Dawning’s deeply annoying snowball bug in the first place, and it’s entirely possible that this very same bug will plague us in this year’s Dawning as well. This bug concerns the snowball pickups’ respective upgrades, most of which were straight-up broken for the duration of the 2023 Dawning event. This didn’t outright break the event but invalidated a third of the system’s upgrade options, which was fun. Let’s see if Bungie patched things up for 2024, at least.
