To help you master this technique in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, here’s how to transform your character.

How do you transform in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero?

Earning a Skill Count is the first step you need to take for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s transformation tactic. The minute a match starts, you’ll notice a progress bar for the Skill Count at the screen’s top-left corner. It’ll gradually fill up over time, so you’ll need to wait until you see the number one or higher.

Once you’ve earned a Skill Count, a glowing blue icon appears to signify the transformation’s availability. Press up on the D-Pad (Standard)/press the left stick (Classic), and select the form you desire. The form selection will depend on how many points you’ve acquired. So, for example, if I had a one Skill Count as Goku, I would have just enough to unlock his Super Saiyan form. But, if I wanted to trigger his Super Saiyan Blue variant, I need three counts instead. The more powerful a form is, the more Skill Counts it requires.

Unlocking these new forms enhances the character’s defensive and offensive performance. You’ll also uncover new attacks that are only accessible through these variants. However, not all fighters, including Goku (Teen), Krillin, and Videl, will have this feature available.

Some characters require you to level up their base form first to reach the higher tiers. For instance, you can start with Frieza’s 1st Form, then gradually make your way up the ranks with its 2nd, 3rd, and Final Form. Only a select few mandate this process, specifically with Frieza and Cell. The rest of the fighters can initiate various forms at any time, even with the base version, giving you free range with your selection.
