How to glide in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom

Take to the skies

While navigating the wilds of Hyrule in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you can sometimes find yourself at a high elevation with no way down. One method you can use to safely get down to the ground is gliding.

Gliding in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is done by summoning particular Echoes and then holding on to them while walking off a cliff. While this sounds like a scary thought, the Echo will keep you aloft and gently lower you down towards the ground. This can be particularly useful when exploring the Eldin Volcano or Hebra Mountain.

There are a total of 13 Echoes that glide in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom:

  • Albatrawl
  • Beakon
  • Crow
  • Keese
  • Electric Keese
  • Fire Keese
  • Ghirro
  • Zirro
  • Guay
  • Mothula
  • Mothula Lv. 2
  • Needlefly
  • Peahat

However, some of these Echoes are harder to use as a glider than others. I’d recommend using an Echo that doesn’t start out in the air, such as a Needlefly or Peahat, as they’re easier to grab onto when you need them.

You can also use the Goldfinch Automaton to glide, if you have it unlocked. This will come later in a playthrough though, so using an Echo is recommended prior to getting the Goldfinch unlocked.

In order to glide, make sure there’s enough space in front of you and then summon one of the above-mentioned Echoes. As soon as the Echo is summoned, press A to pick it up over your head and then run directly off of the cliff.

Alternatively, if you summon an Echo that immediately takes to the skies and you’re unable to simply pick it up, you can bind onto it using the Bind ability and then press RB to reverse-bind. This will allow you to be carried by the Echo wherever it goes, but bear in mind that you have no control over its movement if you use this method.

While gliding, you can press A to let go at any time. This is particularly useful when taking part in the two side quests that require gliding — Glide Path and Glide Path Trailblazer.
