Over at the official EA website, the publishing juggernaut has a new list of games for which they will no longer provide servers for online play. While some of the games are surprisingly old, such as NHL 07, there are a couple which may have an impact on SPORTS! gamers who may not feel the need to update to the most recent version.
If you’re still playing last year’s edition of the Madden franchise online, you’re going to want to pick up Madden 10 sometime in the next month, as the servers are shutting down across all platforms on February 2nd.
Some of the games are just old, while a few look like they might be getting turned off due to popularity. NASCAR 09 servers are closing, but only in Europe where I believe Formula-1 racing is the dominant automotive sport. If I had to guess why they’re ceasing to support Facebreaker, it would be because the game in question is Facebreaker, but it seems a bit odd considering that the game just hit Xbox Live’s Games on Demand service in early December.
All of the games will have online multiplayer available until February 2nd, but EA does warn that some community-oriented online features may disappear in the days leading up to the server shutdowns. You can view the full list after the jump.
