Just three months after MMORPG ArcheAge closed its doors in the West, it appears the world will continue with an action RPG set 50 years later. Developer XLGames and publisher Kakao Games revealed ArcheAge Chronicles as part of today’s State of Play.
Look, I’ll be honest, I had over 1,000 hours in ArcheAge across its various relaunches and rebrands over the years. So even though I hadn’t played in a while, I was sad to see the MMORPG close its doors a few months ago. And while it’s cool to see an action RPG that is set in the world of ArcheAge, the MMO wasn’t really popular for its world but rather for its innovative sandbox and social mechanics.
I will say though, it certainly looks pretty. According to the team, players will embark on epic adventures with enhanced combat in a vast uncharted world of strategic battles and rich storytelling. Along the way, you’ll customize your house, master life skills, and uncover new realms in a dynamic universe. Oh, and it’s got online components as well, apparently. Unfortunately, not many details on that just yet.
No sort of release date timeframe was given for ArcheAge Chronicles, and based on the trailer it appears to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
