Fields of Mistria: Olric gift guide and how to get each item

Why do we always want the things we can't have?

You can befriend all of the villagers in Fields of Mistria, including a chicken and a dog, but there are some who are more worth the effort than others. If you’re a fan of Mistria’s resident butter-chugging blacksmith, Olric, you need to know what gifts he likes to receive.

Disclaimer: Olric isn’t romanceable… Yet. Fields of Mistria is still in early access and NPC Studios have said that they’re open to player feedback with regards to which changes they may make in the future. As such, while you may not be able to share Butter Coffee with Olric just yet, there’s no telling what the future may hold.

Besides, you can’t jump straight into trying to woo a man, you need to build up a solid base of friendship first, and for that you’ll need some gifts. Also be sure to give Olric a loved or liked gift on his birthday (Spring 10) in order to boost those hearts.

I won’t be including any items which aren’t currently available in Fields of Mistria in this list. I’m going to skip over any items yet to be introduced, instead focusing on each item you can get now and where to get it. This list will be updated when future patches are implemented and more items become available.

True to his Blacksmith roots, Olric is a lover of all things geological and he won’t be happy with anything less than perfection. That means that if you want to give him a gift he truly loves, you’ll likely need to go into the Mines:

If you fall short of perfection, or the RNG gods just aren’t handing over the goods, Olric has a much longer list of gifts that he doesn’t quite love, but likes enough to get you some friendship points:

What not to give Olric in Fields of Mistria

If you’re hoping to level up your friendship with Olric, you’ll need to avoid giving him any of the universally disliked items:

  • Junk items such as Fiber, Hay, Cattail, Acorn, Pinecone, Sod or Sap
  • Any bugs

Outside of this, Olric will be particularly upset if you give him a Rockbiter, which is a fish that can be caught between floors 41 and 60 of the Mines. It’s quite a funny interaction, during which he will ask you if you hate rocks, though I can’t recommend it if you want to be best buds.
