Best Ben build in Zenless Zone Zero – Best Drive Discs, W-Engines, and teams

Sometimes a good defense can be the best offense.

Although many might look down on him given his role as a defender, his parry-focused style, shield, and CRIT Rate buff set Ben apart as a great support and a breath of fresh air for those looking outside of the meta in Zenless Zone Zero.

But the above also makes building him a little trickier when compared to his fellow A-Rankers. Here’s the best Ben Bigger build in Zenless Zone Zero, as well as the best teams for one of the game’s most singular agents.

The best W-Engines for Ben in Zenless Zone Zero

As you can expect —and as a blessing for all who pulled endless copies of it while trying to get Zhu Yuan‘s Riot Suppressor Mark VI— the best W-Engine for Ben in Zenless Zone Zero is his signature Big Cylinder.

Offering a 40% boost in DEF on level 60 (which is a must for Ben given his shield scaling and ability to get an ATK boost equal to up to 80% of the stat), the W-Engine will also allow him to perform a guaranteed critical hit after being hit. The critical hit can be triggered once every 7.5 seconds and will deal 600% of his DEF as extra DMG (at one star), thus turning his already devastating EX Special into an Ultimate on cooldown.

Best F2P W-Engine

If you have yet to acquire our top pick, the best F2P and overall W-Engine for Ben is [Identity] Base (at five stars). Apart from its good DEF boost (32% level 60), the B-Ranker will allow Ben to get an extra 32% boost after being hit. Using the A-Ranker Bunny Band can also work thanks to its good DEF value (40% at level 60) and HP and ATK buffs.

Thanks to his dependence on his EX Special, the best drive disc composition for Ben is a 2-piece Bunny Band paired with a 4-piece Swing Jazz. White Bunny Band will provide a 16% boost in DEF, Swing Jazz will both provide him with a 20% boost in ER and allow him to boost the overall DMG of the whole party by 15% after performing either a Chain Attack of his Ultimate.

As we are focusing on buffing his counter and shield equally, go with Crit Rate for the fourth disc (prioritize Crit DMG if using Big Cylinder). For the fifth and sixth partitions, go with Fire DMG Bonus and DEF. Going with DEF and ER can also work for those looking to maximize his EX Special’s availability. Substat-wise, focus on DEF and CRIT DMG when using Big Cylinder. In all other cases, try to get at least 50% Crit Rate and 100% Crit DMG to maximize your numbers.

Are his Mindscapes a must?

No, Ben can still excel in his role even without a single unlocked Mindscape. Among them, however, his second Mindscape (Offense Through Defense) is a standout. After being unlocked, Offense Through Defense will allow him to deal 300% of his defense as damage after triggering his Special and EX Special’s Block Counter.

The best Ben Bigger teams in Zenless Zone Zero

Considered a joker pick given his status as a Defender, Ben shines the most when paired with Soldier 11 and Koleda. One of the game’s most solid assembles, this team will allow you to massively boost Soldier 11’s DMG through Koleda’s Chain ATK and Ben’s Crit Rate buffs. Ben’s presence will also massively boost the team’s survivability and Koleda’s DMG/Daze via their coordinated attacks.

His attribute also makes Ben a fair pick for teams featuring Lucy as a support. He can also work well when paired with Anton and Grace in a Shock-inclined composition, as his buff and shield will help maximize Anton’s DMG and keep him safe. Using Anby in Grace’s place can also work for a more conventional and way more F2P-friendly variation of the team.
