Jack Sparrow’s jar of dirt may seem like a bizarre item at first, but in Fortnite, it plays an important role in completing the Pirate Code quest line during the Cursed Sails event.

However, it spawns in one location, and it can be easy to miss it as you avoid enemies and finish other mission objectives.

Jar of Dirt location in Fortnite

The Jar of Dirt item spawns in Orchard Station, a POI south of the Nitrodome near the railroad tracks. As you approach the station, you’ll spot a glowing chest in a buried train cart and a jar of dirt in the sand. Pick it up to complete the first half of this quest.

The jar will also have sparkles and a blue exclamation mark icon if you have the quest active. These markers will help you find the jar, but it can still be tricky to spot with its size. Keep an eye on the buried train car, and watch for other players attempting to finish the quest alongside you.

Now that you have Jack Sparrow’s jar of dirt, you’ll need to return it to him. However, this part can be a little challenging if you’re midway into a match, as he spawns along the outer borders of the map.

How to deliver Jar of Dirt to Jack Sparrow in Fortnite

Jack Sparrow spawns near his pirate ship on the far right side of the map, directly southeast of Grand Glacier. On your map, his spot appears as a wooden boat in the water. However, since it’s so far from the rest of the map, you’ll have to watch for the storm, as this location gets eaten up quickly within the first couple of waves.

Once you arrive at the ship, you’ll spot Jack Sparrow wandering around the coastline in front of his treasure cave. Talk to him to deliver the jar of dirt, allowing you to progress through the first Pirate Code quest set.
