MythicOwl has officially revealed its upcoming delivery game, Truckful. While delivery may not sound exciting (it does to me), this one has you competing with bouncy physics similar to, say, Moving Out. There are also hints of deeper mysteries.
Probably not, like, dangerous mysteries. Truckful advertises itself as a cozy delivery game, after all. However, the trailer has the truck diverted into a dark forest where some sort of sinister creature lurks. I’m only speculating here, but I’m guessing that, eventually, you have to deliver the creature’s stuff.
Truckful gives you the ability to customize your truck, then asks you to pack the load you’re delivering yourself. Like in reality, you’re not just delivering identically sized boxes, but also awkward shapes like chairs and a (surprisingly small) grand piano. The challenge there would be to jam them in places where they’re not going to bounce out.
That’s because the road maintenance in the small town you’re traveling leaves a lot to be desired and will bounce and jostle your little truck. It will only get more difficult to keep things contained if you choose to go offroad.
What surprises me most is that the trailer invariably depicts the driving from a semi-isometric angle. It’s unique, but just a bit strange for any driving game that isn’t Micro Machines or R.C. Pro-Am.
Nonetheless, the concept is very appealing to me. I bet my dad would be great at this. He delivered lumber and building supplies for a lot of his life. I’ve asked him to help me move more times than I have any right to, and he always manages to fit things together tightly without damaging them… mostly.
Truckful is coming to PC. No other platforms or a release date have been confirmed.
