Nilou’s Ascension and Talent materials in Genshin Impact

Talents are optional.

Genshin Impact’s Nilou is an unusual character in many ways. One of them is that she doesn’t require Talent levels in order to be usable. Instead, Nilou benefits more from Character levels and Ascension. Here are all of the materials you’ll need to max out your Nilou.

Nilou Character Ascension Requirements

Perpetual Caliber – Aeonblight Drake

Nilou’s world boss is the Aeonblight Drake located in the Ardravi Valley in Sumeru. The Aeonblight Drake will take to the air midway through the fight. You can force it to the ground and stun it by shooting the glowing points on its wings and chest.

Nilou will need 46 boss drops in order to reach level 90. This means that at World Level 8, you should expect to challenge the Aeonblight Drake around 18 times.

Padisarah

Padisarah flowers are a local specialty of Sumeru. You can find them in the northern half of Sumeru’s forests. Having Tighnari or Sethos in your party will highlight the locations of Sumeru local specialties on your minimap.

Nilou will need 168 Padisarahs to reach max Ascension. There are only 68 Padisarahs in the overworld of Teyvat, and local specialties respawn 46 hours after gathering them. This means you’ll need to clean out your world’s Padisarahs two to three times, or ask a friend if you can take the ones in their world.

Basic Fungus materials

Nilou uses the basic drops from Floating Fungi. Fungus enemies can be found throughout Sumeru, but make sure you don’t have Pyro or Electro in your party, since hitting Fungi with Pyro or Electro attacks will cause them to drop different materials.

Nilou will need 18 Fungal Spores, 30 Luminescent Pollen, and 36 Crystalline Cyst Dust to reach level 90, not including materials for Talent levels.

Varunada Lazurite

Since Nilou is a Hydro character, she uses blue Hydro gems to Ascend. The Aeonblight Drake drops Hydro gems, but if you still find yourself short, you can convert some gems from another element at an alchemy bench.

Nilou will require a total of 1 Varunada Lazurite Sliver, 9 Fragments, 9 Chunks, and 6 Gemstones for max Ascension.

Talent Levels for Nilou

Nilou actually doesn’t need Talent levels at all. As long as she is level 90 with as much HP as possible, she will perform her intended role in her teams. You can leave Nilou’s Talents at level 1 if you don’t want to gather the necessary materials. If you do want to level up Nilou’s Talents, though, here’s what you’ll need.

Praxis Books

Nilou’s Talents require Praxis books to level up. Praxis books can be farmed from the Sumeru Talent domain on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Nilou will need 9 brown books, 63 silver books, and 114 gold books to get all three Talents to max level.

Basic Fungus materials

Fungi can be found throughout Sumeru. Remember to not hit Fungi with Pyro or Electro attacks, or they will drop the wrong class of materials.

Nilou will need 18 Fungal Spores, 66 Luminescent Pollen, and 93 Crystalline Cyst Dust to reach level 10 for every Talent.

Tears of the Calamitous God – Raiden Shogun

Nilou’s weekly boss material is Tears of the Calamitous God, which drops from the Raiden Shogun boss domain. The domain appears upon completion of Raiden’s Story Quest, but if you haven’t gotten there yet, you can quick-start the challenge from the Adventurer’s Handbook.

Nilou requires 18 Tears of the Calamitous God to level up all three Talents. At max difficulty, you can expect to farm the domain about 8 times to get everything you need.
