The Futties season is all about extremely strong items with very high overall ratings. We already have a 99-rated Lionel Messi Team of the Tournament card, and there will be plenty of such cards appearing over the next few months. Naturally, these cards open up chances for certain formations to dominate the meta and win more games. The choices are clear – the 4321 and the 541 are clear frontrunners as the best EA FC 24 offensive and defensive formations, respectively.

The 4321 has been a top-tier formation since the moment EA FC 24 was released back in September 2023. Since then, new promo cards in Ultimate Team have already made the system even more potent. There are two major reasons as to why this formation is the best one to use:

  • In an attack, you use three ST/CF, which makes it difficult for any defense to handle. Additionally, one of the three CMs makes aggressive runs into the box during attacks. The shape changes to a 4-2-4 with the correct instructions.
  • In defense, two of the three CMs stay back in defensive shape, while one of the three attackers falls back like a winger. This formation is ideal for your wingbacks to put on ‘stay back during attack’ instruction. Hence, the 4321 formation defends in a 442, adding to the defensive stability.

If you’re a skilled player, you could also employ 100 defensive depth. This has become very common in the current meta, and many esports athletes in the Pro Championships did the same. Do note that employing such a high line can be pretty risky as well.

Regardless of your choice of custom tactics, the 4321 is the best option for Season 8 of EA FC 24.

Best EA FC 24 defensive formation for Season 8

When you play against top players, it’s important to go defensive when required. Once again, the 541 is the best choice in the endgame. Ideally, this formation has several limitations, but the items currently being released in Ultimate Team remove most of them.

For starters, you can now use wingers in the wider positions who are equally good as strikers. Similarly, many CBs now have passing playstyle+, making them vital cogs in the build-up. While it’s best not to use such a defensive formation for the entirety of the match, switching to the 541 to kill the contest is ideal.
