There is no shortage of items, components, and gear in The First Descendant. As you work through the campaign, you’ll find yourself inundated with a bevy of weapon types, Reactors, and External Components. Weapons can eventually be upgraded, but can the same be said about the Reactors and External Components, particularly the Ultimate gold ones?
Surely, my hoarding will pay off once I reach the end game
There are three rarities when it comes to gear in The First Descendant: Standard (blue), Rare (purple), and Ultimate (rare). The gold rarities provide a considerable upgrade over its counterparts, and the Reactors and External Components will drop in the wild and don’t require crafting. Another difference between the weapons and other gear is that Reactors and External Components cannot have their level increased.
As such, keeping any that aren’t beneficial to you doesn’t make a lot of sense. Dismantle any Reactors and External Components, regardless of quality, that are no longer of use. Despite the game warning you not to do this, they’ll break down into useful crafting components.
While there isn’t any way to increase the level of Reactors and External Components, you can upgrade Reactors twice in Albion. Ultimate Reactors can be upgraded twice for (15) Precise Ion Accelerators and provide about 700 increased Skill Power. While Rares can be upgraded, the drop rate for Ultimates isn’t so poor that you should spend precious resources on them. So, hold out for the Ultimate Reactors that work best for your Descendant and their build, and don’t fret about dismantling those that have outlived their usefulness.
