FFXIV Dawntrail: Yak T’el Bicolor Gemstones, all rewards and ranks

Once you’re well into the Dawntrail Shared FATE grind in Final Fantasy XIV, you’ll find yourself in the split level surrounds of Yak T’el. Doing FATEs here can be a challenge, but you’ll need to get them done if you want the rewards on offer. 

Once you’ve completed the necessary 66 FATEs in Yak T’el, you’ll be able to purchase the Ilyikty’i minion from the local Gemstone Trader, so this is definitely an area you want to get out of the way if you’re a fan of cute minions. 

How do shared FATEs work in Dawntrail?

Don’t worry if you’re dreading the grind because you’re used to having to do 86 FATEs per area to achieve Rank 3, this has been reduced by 20 for Dawntrail zones, so you only need to complete 66 per area. This means it’s easier than ever to get the grind done, so you really have no excuse not to do it. 

Here’s how many FATEs you’ll need to do to complete each Rank:

• Rank 1 (6 FATEs)
• Rank 2 (20 FATEs)
• Rank 3 (40 FATEs)

Once you’ve done all 66 FATEs and achieved Rank 4 (newly added for Dawntrail), then you’ll be able to visit the local Gemstone Trader and have access to all of his wares. 

Each FATE you complete will reward a minimum of 16 Bicolor Gemstones, not accounting for those gained through boosted FATEs or through FATEs you complete after defeating a Forlorn or Forlorn Maiden. 

Where is the Gemstone Trader in Yak T’el?

The Gemstone Trader for Yak T’el is located in Iq Br’aax and is called Rral Wuruq. You can find him very close to the Aetheryte at (X:13.8, Y:12.7). His stock expands with each Rank you complete.
