Most beginners focus on squad selection, custom tactics, and meta formations when it comes to winning matches in the game. Well, those aren’t the wrong things to focus on, but camera and controller settings are often overlooked as most players resort to the default selections. However, having the perfect settings will massively impact your gameplay, usually becoming the difference between your wins and losses.

EA Sports allows you to make a lot of changes when it comes to the camera presentation. Not only can you change the camera type, but you can also tweak the height, zoom, and more. Here are the best settings you can use in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

  • Camera choice: Co-op
  • Height: 12
  • Zoom: 8/10
  • Far Side Focus: 10
  • Ball Tracking Speed: 10
  • Penalty Area Zoom: 10

For a large part of the year, I have used the same settings with Height 16 and Zoom 4. The rationale is to make a larger part of the field visible. This additional information would let you check all the options before you choose to pass the ball. Co-op is still the best camera angle as it allows you to have a view of the entire field.

However, recent patches have changed the gameplay to some extent, and I have relied more on dribbling to crack open opposition defenses. This is the main reason why I have increased the zoom and reduced the camera height. Do note that choosing 16 Height and 4 Zoom can be very good if you rely on long balls and aerial crosses.

While the control layout depends entirely on your preferences, the same can’t be said about the gameplay settings.

  • Shot Direction: Assisted
  • Timed Finishing: On
  • Through Pass Assistance: Semi
  • Lobbed Through Pass: Semi
  • Ground Pass Assistance: Assisted
  • Cross Assistance: Assisted
  • Lob Pass ASsistance: Assisted
  • Pass Receiver Lock: Power Up
  • Precision Pass Sensitivity: Normal

If you’re just getting started with EA FC 24, it’s better to turn Timed Finishing “off” in the settings. However, make sure to turn it on as you get better with the game. You could also use “Late” in Pass Receiver Lock, but I play in a tiki-taka setup, so Power Up is my preferred choice.

Let’s now take a look at the best defense settings.

  • Clearance Assistance: Classic
  • Defending: Tactical Defending
  • Pass Block Assistance: On
  • Auto Switching: On Air Balls and Loose Balls
  • Auto Switching Move Assistance: Low
  • Right Stick Switching: Classic
  • Right Stick Switching Sensitivity: 0
  • Right Stick Switching Preference: Player Relative
  • Next Player Switching: Classic
  • Player Lock: On
  • Icon Switching: On
  • Orbit Dribbling: Off

This may be controversial, but Tactical Defending is far more efficient than Advanced Defending. Yes, the latter offers you more choices when it comes to tackling your opponents. But the good old standing tackle is your best friend on almost every occasion, so why change from that? Advanced Tackling might become better in EA FC 25, but I am sticking with Tactical for this year.

Make sure to increase the Right Stick Switching Sensitivity as you get better with the game. The AI assists you more if you put a lower value, which is excellent for beginners.
