Everyone’s favorite Italian plumbers are teaming up again for the first time in nine years, with Mario & Luigi: Brothership heading to Nintendo Switch consoles worldwide later this year. If you’re keen to get your hands on it, but don’t know when, then don’t worry, as I have the release date.
Announced during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, the long-running and ultra-popular RPG series is back, and the only thing more powerful than friendship is… Brothership?
Here’s when you can jump back into the world of Super Mario and try out Nintendo‘s latest side-scrolling platformer, Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership release date
Mario & Luigi: Brothership is currently scheduled to be released worldwide on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership platforms
Unsurprisingly, Mario & Luigi: Brothership will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive when it launches in November. It’s possible that we may see a port to the now-confirmed Switch successor, however, we don’t have a possible release date for it bar confirmation it will be announced before March 2025.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership trailer
What do we know about Mario & Luigi: Brothership so far?
Truthfully, we don’t know a lot about the game just yet, as all we’ve received from Nintendo is the announcement trailer. The description of the video reads: “The bond between brothers has never been stronger! Set sail for an island-hopping adventure with the Mario Bros. in Mario & Luigi: Brothership,” but doesn’t drop any details about the storyline.
The game definitely holds on to the side-scrolling platform design that we’ve seen over the years in Super Mario games but has been updated graphically for the current generation of consoles. Other than that, however, we don’t know too much about gameplay features, other than the promise of “evolved moves for the brothers.
Interestingly, Nintendo is being coy about what studio actually developed the game. We know that AlphaDream, the original studio behind the series, was shuttered in 2019, but all Nintendo would tell VGC is that “some of the original developers” were involved.
Hype is definitely high though, with Albania’s Jasir Asani rocking a pair of Mario-themed boots at Euro 2024.
