Konami showed off a brand new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater during the Xbox Game Showcase 2024. It shows off some familiar-looking gameplay with a much-needed new coat of paint and confirms the return of Naked Snake’s original voice actor, David Hayter.
While we’ve seen snippets of gameplay of the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake before, we’ve never seen it in action like this. The trailer contains key moments from the game with their fantastic upgraded graphics, but the gameplay seems to remain pretty true to the original. No matter how clunky it might have been. The most exciting part of the trailer is the voice acting, which confirms that David Hayter, the original and best voice for Solid and Naked Snake, is back at the helm as the protagonist for this game.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater shows off stunning new visuals that match the original gameplay
Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater is a full remaster/remake of the third Metal Gear Solid game. As you can see in the trailer above, it follows Naked Snake, the greatest soldier in the world, before he’s proven himself, dropping into a hostile environment behind enemy lines. There, he must capture a Soviet scientist to help save the world, but his former mentor, who also looks great in this trailer, steps in to get in the way of those plans.
The only issue with this trailer is that it doesn’t give us a release window. We still have no idea when we’ll be getting our hands on it, so we’ll have to sit tight and hope that Konami blesses us with one before the end of 2024.
David Hayter hasn’t been the voice of a protagonist in a Metal Gear Solid game since Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As a fan who has been playing these games since the first one was released on PS1, it hasn’t felt the same without him.
What made Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater feel so unique is that it takes the tactical espionage action we’re used to seeing from the series and moved it into nature. For the first time in the franchise, you were forced to change your camo to match your environment, think and act to hide from enemies on the fly in tricky environments, and eat whatever crawls out of the tall grass to survive.
Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater appears to retain all of this and bring it up to a modern standard so it can compete with the best-looking games on the planet. It allows for dynamic gameplay, with random or unforeseen encounters emerging as you hold up one guard, get spotted, use a snake to kill another, and then rush into a building to hide.
