How to use the Sensor to confirm the patrol route in Wuthering Waves

Follow the hologram cookie crumb trail

Wuthering Waves features numerous utilities you’ll use to make traversal, combat, and exploration easier. One of these utilities is the sensor, which you’ll initially use to confirm a patrol route before unlocking it for the rest of your playthrough.

After speaking to the Midnight Ranger and unlocking the sensor, you can activate it by opening your Utility wheel, hovering over the sensor’s eye icon, and closing the menu. From here, you’ll use the same key or button you used to activate the grapple hook from a previous quest to use your sensor, allowing you to see a hologram of a character. Once you spot the hologram character, follow it to advance through the rest of the mission.

When you first learn about the sensor, a pop-up notification will tell you which key or button to hold to open your Utility menu. On PC, you’ll hold the tab, drag your mouse over the sensor, and then release the tab to equip it. You’ll press T to activate it from here, much like how you used the grapple in the prerequisite quest. There is a short cooldown for using the sensor, but for the sake of this mission, you’ll only need to activate it once or twice.

Outside of questing, you can also use the sensor to reveal collectibles and enemy weaknesses. Any hidden information you otherwise wouldn’t find with the naked eye will appear with the sensor, making it easier to find items or defeat enemies. You’ll also use it during quests, with the patrol route missions in Wuthering Waves’ first chapter being your introduction to the mechanic.
