After you complete Crow Country, you’re given the optional objective of finding and destroying 42 Crystal Crow statues throughout the game’s park. Before you tackle such a task, you may wonder what’s in it for you and if it’s worth it.
Finding all 42 Crystal Crows is a pretty monumental task. While the statues themselves are bright blue, they’re often hidden in and behind objects. They’re easy to miss.
There is one Crystal Crow in every above-ground room in Crow Country, with some of the linking pathways having two. If you’re having trouble finding them, it’s best to go through in an organized way and ensure that you have found one in each of the rooms, then check the pathways.
Once you start the challenge (which can be toggled on and off in the gameplay options menu), a door will appear in Crow’s Lounge with a number on it that denotes how many are remaining. Find all of them and this unlocks.
The reward for finding all Crystal Crows in Crow Country
Without further ado, here is the reward for completing the Crystal Crow challenge:
As you can see, Mara dons an unusual costume and equips herself with a retro-future laser pistol. The pistol has infinite ammunition, so if there was something you’ve wanted to shoot in the environment but didn’t want to waste bullets, now’s your chance.
If you’re wondering if the costume is a reference to something else; it’s Zap Girl, a character who appears on a poster in the arcade. I took a close look at this poster during my playthrough and didn’t make the connection until a reader pointed it out to me.
As for whether or not it’s worth it, that depends on your perspective. To even get it, you’d have to have finished the game, so an infinite-ammo laser pistol isn’t really going to be much help at this point. It’s fun to play around with, but that’s about it.
However, if you’re just looking for a fun way to extend the length of Crow Country, then the challenge is its own reward.
