How to pet the fish (dog) in Another Crab’s Treasure

An underwater crab souls game where you can pet the dog.

Another Crab’s Treasure is filled with silly Easter Eggs and fun things to do. It’s a nice change of pace from getting rocked by truly Souls-like-difficulty bosses over and over again. Not only can you pet a “dog” (fish) in-game, but it’s actually a companion that’ll do more than just let you pet it while you’re hanging out.

How to get Chum, the fish companion

Chum the fish companion can be found in the Expired Grove area of the game. You’ll find it shortly after the Diseased Lichenthrope boss, which is a bit challenging. Though it appears to act as any other stowaway in the game would, it will actually follow you around. The pet fish does require 20 vitality to equip, but many players will have that by now.

It’s definitely worth remembering if you’re on your way there. We’d hate to see you reach the precious pet-able fish and not be able to take it along with you on your underwater quest.

You can pet the fish and fight alongside it

Many players will need as much help as they can get to conquer the seas of Another Crab’s Treasure. One thing to ease the pain and keep you from getting too crabby (sorry) is finding a friendly face to help out. Chum will fight alongside you, and you Souls players know how useful even a weak and minor distraction can be. Additionally, you can actually pet him like a dog, as is certified by the official ‘Can you pet the dog?’ Twitter account.

We know Chum looks, swims, and even fights like a fish, but according to the devs, it’s a dog.
