When does Aang: The Last Airbender animated movie come out?

According to the official Avatar: The Last Airbender Instagram, the animated film will be released on October 10, 2025. Although this launch date was mentioned a while ago, Paramount Pictures confirmed it again at the CinemaCon 2024.

Aang: The Last Airbender will be the first of the three Avatar-related projects to debut. It isn’t entirely clear what the rest of the movies will bring, but we at least know that Aang will be the focus of the first entry.

Aang: The Last Airbender film cast details

CinemaCon 2024 revealed that singer/songwriter Eric Nam will play Avatar Aang. This time, Aang won’t be the little, naïve kid we saw in Avatar: The Last Airbender; he will be a grown adult in the upcoming film. He’ll likely be more in line with his older self that cameos in The Legend of Korra, but the timeline is still mysterious.

Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) will also play a villain in Aang: The Last Airbender. The Avatars have always had their fair share of enemies, with Fire Lord Ozai being Aang’s main nemesis in ATLA. We’ll have to see how Bautista’s character will stir up trouble for the Avatar. I, for one, would love to see him play a Combustion Bender, also known as Sparky Sparky Boom Man, type of role. He already has some resemblances to Combustion Man, but maybe it’ll be something entirely different.

Other than these two actors, we know that Dionne Quan (All Grown Up! The Fairly OddParents), Jessica Matten (Frontier and Dark Winds), and Román Zaragoza (Ghosts) will be in the cast. Their characters haven’t been officially confirmed yet. However, it has been mentioned that Jessica Matten will be playing Katara.

Behind the scenes, we have director Lauren Montgomery, who’s been involved in the storyboard art of The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The creators of ATLA, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will also be the executive producers for the film, alongside Eric Coleman.

What is Aang: The Last Airbender animated film about?

Unfortunately, there isn’t much information about the plot of Aang: The Last Airbender animated film. Given that Aang is an adult, it’ll occur somewhere between The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. The comic series could also be involved, yet the film may take shape on its own. No matter what, Aang will likely have to take down some big bad, a common theme in the Avatar series.
