Celesteela has been in Pokémon Go since 2022, but the Ultra Beast didn’t receive a shiny form in the mobile title until the Sizable Surprises limited-time event. From now on, players are able to catch a shiny Celesteela, but it requires jumping a few hoops first in Pokémon Go.
How to catch Shiny Celesteela: Raids
Since Celesteela is an Ultra Beast, it isn’t the type of Pokémon you are able to just find in the wild and capture while playing Pokémon Go. Instead, you’ll need to rely on a couple of different methods to find it:
- Research Tasks
- Raids
- Special limited-time events
The problem is, Research events don’t always happen, so they aren’t the most reliable way to get a shiny Celesteela. As such, you’ll want to do some Celesteela raids if you’d like to catch a shiny form. This is because every raid you complete and win against Celesteela will grant you an encounter where you can catch it. These encounters even have higher odds of being shiny.
How to find raids faster in Pokémon Go
The only problem with finding a Celesteela raid in Pokémon Go is there are a lot of players around the world who want to catch it as well. This is even worse during major events like Sizable Surprises, where Celesteela raids are a huge focus of the event. Fortunately, there are some ways to get raids faster and more often.
What you want to do is download a third-party app like PokeRaid or FastRaid. PokeGenie is by far the most popular option for this, but I don’t recommend it since the raid queues can often feature thousands of players and last for hours. Go on there, connect your game, and then join the automatic queue for the next raid room.
Once you get in, you just need to beat Celesteela to get an encounter with a 5% chance of being shiny. This is another reason you want raids as fast as possible, as you may have to beat Celesteela multiple times for a shiny.
Tips for beating Celesteela
When it comes to the Celesteela raids, this Ultra Beast Pokémon from Generation 7 has high stats and the powerful Steel and Flying types. At first glance, Celesteela only has two weaknesses: Electric and Fire types. While you can use any Pokémon that has these typings, I prefer ones like the following:
- Chandelure
- Reshiram
- Zekrom
- Mega Charizard X or Y
- Raikou
- Thundurus
These Pokémon have some of the best Fire and Electric-type moves in the mobile game, and they have solid stats to boot to keep them alive for longer. You’ll just have to hope your raid partners pick the right Pokémon as well to have a breezy time.
