How to get and use the Orbital Laser in Helldivers 2

Super Earth's version of the Hammer of Dawn.

The Orbital Laser is a strong Stratagem to use in Helldivers 2. It’s really enticing because, unlike many other call-downs that oftentimes lead to collateral team damage, it’s precise, tracking, and easy to get away from to prevent dying.

How to use the Orbital Laser

The Orbital Laser can be used just as a simple call-down after entering the right Stratagem code. Preferably, you want to throw it at a cluster of enemies or specifically at heavy units like Chargers, Bile Titans, Hulks, and Tanks.

When you throw one into the battlefield, the laser will track any enemy closest to where it starts. It’s recommended that once the laser starts firing, you should start getting away from it so it won’t accidentally track another enemy and catch you in its path.

Since this is also a very powerful Stratagem to use, you only get three charges of it before you can no longer use it for the rest of your mission. It also has that really long cooldown time of five minutes, so you have to make each use worth it.

Best Stratagems to use with the Orbital Laser

If you decide to use the Orbital Laser, consider using other Stratagems with lower cooldowns to balance long wait times between call-downs. Preferably, you want to use these to cover all types of enemies:

  • Eagle Airstrike
  • Eagle Cluster Bomb
  • Eagle 500KG Bomb
  • Orbital Airburst Strike

Then, for your other two slots for Stratagems, it’s highly recommended to use some kind of support weapon or a backpack so that you’re fully prepared for all types of situations that are thrown at you on a mission, especially the higher difficulties.
