LEGO Fortnite has three cars you can build to make traveling around easier, with the Speeder being the easiest to create. Although you only need basic early-game materials to make it, initially unlocking the car is where the real challenge begins. Here’s how to build a Speeder in LEGO Fortnite.
How to unlock and build Speeder vehicle in LEGO Fortnite
Before building the Speeder, you must craft a power cell using 50 biomass and six glass at a crafting bench. Biomass is a resource from a compost bin, while glass requires smelting sand and Brightcore in a metal smelter. After collecting both materials, bring them to a crafting table to make your power cell.
Once you make your first power cell, you’ll unlock three vehicle recipes, including the Speeder. You’ll find each recipe in your build menu’s builds category under Rugged Rollers. From here, you need four wooden rods as an upfront cost, alongside the following materials to finish its four stages:
- Wooden Rod x18
- Cord x8
- Plank x2
- Wood x8
- Granite x9
Since these are all early-game resources, you don’t have to venture into other biomes to build the Speeder. Wood and granite are the easiest to find, as you can easily find stones and trees in the Grasslands for farming these items. From here, you’ll need a lumber mill to make planks and wooden rods, while cords require a spinning wheel.
After creating each item, find the Speeder in your build menu and place it down to start the process. Building the Speeder involves four stages, so if you run out of materials, you can keep it active until you obtain what you need and resume building. Once you finish building the Speeder car, it’ll appear on the floor, ready for you to drive after powering it up.
How to power and drive the Speeder in LEGO Fortnite
It’s time to power up your Speeder and start driving. To do this, interact with the power center on your Speeder and insert a power cell inside. As you drive, your car will consume fuel from the power cell, requiring you to replace it over time. It can only fit one cell inside at a time, so keeping an eye on its battery life will help prevent you from losing power midway through your travels.
After powering up your Speeder, you can hop in and drive around your LEGO Fortnite world. While it won’t bring you from one biome to another at light speed, it is noticeably faster than sprinting on foot and is much more fun to control.
