Like Vermund, many adventures await you in Battahl, from side quests to crucial parts in the main story. This also includes the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Shadowed Prayers quest, an objective that involves protecting Empress Nadinia.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Shadowed Prayers guide
After pledging your aid to Menella in Nation of the Lambert Flame, you’ll get one step closer to the Shadowed Prayers quest. It should either unlock after a guard approaches the player or when encountering Menella at the entrance of Flamebearer Palace Prayer Hall. You can use the Flamebearer Palace Road in Bakbatthal, next to the Oxcart Station, to get there.
Meet her at Flamebearer Palace again in the morning, and she will ask you to look for a mysterious assassin. The description mentions a man “with his hair tied back” and a “wounded right arm.”
Go up the stairs to look for this specific character. Use the lantern to get a better look if it’s too difficult to see. The man in question should be on the right side of the stairs with brown hair and an X-shaped scar on his right arm. Talking to him won’t really do anything, so instead, grab him to satisfy the task in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Shadowed Prayers quest. However, it would be best to be quick about it due to the mission’s time limit. It takes roughly two minutes to end, so keep that in mind when looking.
The man, now known as Herman, will immediately confess to the crime, taking you over to Irmhild for the quest completion. She’ll provide a considerable amount of valuables with the following rewards:
- 5 Jasper
- 18,000 gold
- +3,500 XP
Jasper gems are relatively rare in Bakbatthal, so selling them to vendors in this region provides more gold. Other stores in destinations like Vernworth and Sacred Arbor won’t give you as much for this resource. Therefore, I recommend always saving Jasper for Bakbatthal.
Irmhild also mentions the location of the Hot Springs at the Volcanic Islands. If you’re looking for a place with healing properties, this area proves helpful and rewards those who enter with a trophy or achievement. In particular, bathing in the Hot Springs earns you the ‘This’ll Cure What Ails Ye’ achievement. Any scars from battles will be removed, too, when going inside the springs.
It will take some time to reach this area as it enters the endgame phase. To get to the Volcanic Islands, just continue with the main storyline to unlock the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door. Plus, an NPC for the Warfarer Vocation will be stationed near the Hot Springs if you want to access all combat styles.
