Aim true.

Loitering out from of the armament shop in Vernworth is a rare sight in Dragon’s Dogma 2; an elf. This one, named Glyndwr and he has the distinction of speaking the common tongue. He has a series of quests, and here’s how to complete them.

How to complete Gift of the Bow in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To complete A Trial of Archery in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you have to buy Glyndwr a bow, then hoof it across the country to show him how to use it. It isn’t dangerous. Unless the Chimera is there.

Gift of the bow is a unique quest for one reason, and we’ll get to that. However, to fully start the quest, all you need to do is talk to Glyndwr. He’ll speak highly over the bows at the shop and ask if you could give him one.

If you have a bow in your inventory that isn’t elven, you can just fork it over. If not, you can simply buy Glyndwr the cheapest bow available at the shop. It doesn’t seem to have any negative effect on the quest, and he’ll be happy just the same.

After giving Glyndwr the bow, he’ll ask you to help him train, and this is where the special part comes in. In order to show him how to use the bow, you’ll need to change your vocation to archer if it isn’t that already. If you chose another vocation, it’s simple to change and then change back. Just go to the Vocation Guild and request to switch. You’ll be given a bow and a uniform right off the bat, but you can also buy more gear if that isn’t sufficient.

Glyndwr asks you to meet him at the ruins north of Trevo Mine. It’s an odd landmark to choose because your destination is pretty far northwest from it. You’ll need to cross one of the bridges north from Trevo mine, then head over to the destination, a place called Mountain Ruins.

I’m going to warn you. I went to the Mountain Ruins before embarking on this quest, and when I arrived, I was accosted by a Chimera. It was a rather fierce battle. I’m not sure if Glyndwr being there will prevent the Chimera’s appearance, so just be prepared all the same.

Glyndwr will ask you to show him your form by shooting a target. Use the “Vocation Action” button, also marked as “Steady Shot.” This will give you a reticle with which to aim the bow. Shoot the indicated target. Glyndwr will be pleased, and you’ll be rewarded for your help, completing the quest.

How to complete A Trial of Archery in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To complete Gift of the Bow in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you have to meet up with Glyndwr and journey to Sacred Arbor. Once there, you must then rescue his sister.

When you return to the shop in Vernworth, Glyndwr has returned. Sometimes, these things take time, but I went directly back, and Glyndwr was already waiting. This time, he’ll tell you he’s ready to take his Trial of Archery (an Elven rite of passage) and wants you to be present.

I don’t believe you have to remain an archer for this quest. However, I did anyway.

He’ll ask you to meet him at a campsite near the ruins you were just at. So head back up there (I know, it’s a trek), and go to the indicated spot. From there, he’ll lead you to the Sacred Arbor, the village of the elves.

As a note, if you have a pawn with the Woodlands Wordsmith vocation, you’ll be able to read what the Elves are saying.

Follow Glyndwr, and he’ll take you to his father. His father says that Glyndwr’s sister, Doireann, has been abducted by an Ogre. Of course, Glyndwr goes to her rescue and asks you to come. You’ll be directed toward a cave called the Ancestral Chamber. You then follow Glyndwry further inside and eventually come across the Ogre with Doireann in hand. Eating her head, it would seem.

Glyndwr will hit the Ogre with a shot to knock his sister out of its grasp and direct you to get her to safety. I’m pretty sure he’s serious. If you leave the sister lying there, the Ogre will pick her up again. She also seems to take damage from attacks. I didn’t really question it. I went over and picked her up and tried to get to safety. As I fled with Doireann in my arms, the Ogre gave chase while my pawns and the elves did battle with it. Before I got too far, they managed to take the beast down. You might be able to just get a safe distance to complete the objective, but that’s not how it played out for me.

Either way, you’ll be led back outside. Glyndwr will thank you and ask you to talk to his father, Taliesin. He, too, will thank you, give you a reward, and thus ends the quest.

Later, you can return to Sacred Arbor and speak with Doireann. She starts off a new string of quests, beginning with The Ailing Arborheart.

Where to find Glyndwr in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can find Glyndwr in Vernworth, standing outside Roderick’s Smithy. If you’re looking for him after you’ve completed his quest, he will then roam Vernworth. He will not return to Sacred Arbor.
