Pokémon Go is introducing a new type of microtransaction and seasonal content this year with the Wonder Ticket. The Pokémon Go Wonder Ticket is, in a way, like a limited-time seasonal pass in a way that lets players unlock rewards while the World of Wonders season is ongoing if they complete three sets of Timed Researches. But is it worth it?
Pokémon Go Wonder Ticket price, explained
The Wonder Ticket costs players $9.99 USD in the United States, and the roughly equivalent amount in other currencies around the world. Players can purchase it within the game itself. This ticket first became available for purchase on March 1, 2024, and it will be available for players to buy through June 1, 2024 at 9:59 a.m. local time in your country and region.
Players have about three months to buy and use up the Wonder Ticket, which times itself nicely with the current World of Wonders seasonal event in the game. Note that this ticket is temporary, so players need to purchase and unlock all of the rewards before it leaves the game or else it is gone forever. The rewards can be unlocked through June 14, 2024, once players buy it.
Is the Wonder Ticket worth it?
With this new Pokémon Go Wonder Ticket system, which could very well return in the future, it begs the question of whether or not this is worth it for most players. To figure this out, here are all of the items you are able to unlock during the first of the three Timed Research sets:
- Poipole Helmet
- Encounters with Pokémon
- 1 Premium Battle Pass
- 1 Lucky Egg
- 1 Incense
- 1 Star Piece
- Plus random smaller items like Golden Razz Berries and Rare Candies
We should note these are the rewards for solely the first of three sets, with the other two to be revealed later on during the season. As such, it is a bit of a challenge to gauge if this Wonder Ticket is worth it or not. That said, with the items we know you can unlock, it looks like this first set alone is worth about $4.99, which is half the asking price for the seasonal ticket.
If we assume the other two sets will have a similar value, players should essentially “profit” from this Wonder Ticket. But that is only if they complete all three Timed Researches. Fortunately, these researches have pretty basic tasks like catching 30 Pokémon or walking for five kilometers. If you’re a Poipole fan like us or just want the possible value from this ticket, it seems to be worth it for some players.
